While I very much agree with Joe on the dangers of a second Trump term, I also worry about your use of the term "deep state" to describe the current federal bureaucracy. Though I remain highly skeptical of such behind-the-scenes coordination between career public servants at present, Project 2025 explicitly suggests the creation of just such an network of lackeys and yes men to replace the apolitical experts who currently hold such posts. Should that occur, what guardrails would remain to keep Trump on the straight and narrow?
